Overview

Students learn Spanish from our native speaking monitores

This school trip offers students an invaluable opportunity to converse and engage with native Spanish speakers in real-life situations at every turn. Our experienced Spanish-native monitores from the Arbolar centre will guide your group and gently encourage them to use their Spanish throughout their stay.

Students will learn water and beach sports with fully qualified water sport instructors whilst experiencing Spanish culture and using their language in a supportive and encouraging environment. Learners have the chance to meet the local community and experience an authentic Spanish neighbourhood on a guided visit and 'market mission' to a local town, test their culinary skills and create a typical Spanish dish, or try their hand at salsa dancing - all conducted in Spanish of course!

What's more, our monitores lead a fun programme of evening activities to keep your students learning, occupied and entertained at all times and giving teachers the chance to take a well-earned breather. This trip is jam-packed with language learning and is certain to boost every student's confidence and excite them about the possibilities that come with speaking another language!

New accommodation option

Guaranteed more sun than your typical Spanish classroom!

Due to the growing popularity of this programme, we now offer two accommodation choices in the historic seaside town of Águilas, both offering the same activity programme and both run by the same Arbolar team you are used to.

The Bea Beach centre feels more like a modern hotel than a student hostel, boasting super modern and comfortable ensuite rooms, all with air conditioning and access to a lifeguarded pool. The centre has plenty of common areas where your students can chat, relax and use the free wifi. The Bea Beach is just a short walk to the wide sandy beach and marina port where your group will enjoy beach games and supervised watersports with the Arbolar team.

Introducing our latest residency, Nova Beach, situated within the Juan Montiel Hotel, where the entire second floor has been transformed for our groups. Expect ensuite rooms with single beds and all the amenities required for student adventurers such as the exclusive use of your own hang-out area, language classroom and activity space. Located on the seafront with views across the harbour and beach, Nova Beach also offers free wifi and access to a lifeguarded pool.

The Nova Beach is just across the road from Bea Beach which means that very large groups can be comfortably accommodated across both sites.

The Murcia region is well linked by airlines and groups can fly from most UK airports.

When to visit? Travel in the right season for the best prices and overall experience for your group. Our Monitores will use their local expertise to organise the most suitable activities for the time of year you are visiting. Read our article on when is the best time to take a school trip to Murcia.

Castillo de San Juan, Águilas

Originally built as a fortress in the 16th century to protect against pirate attacks, Castillo de San Juan is perched high above Águilas town. The castle is well worth the climb and offers students an impressive view across the surrounding countryside and the town below.

Mojacar - pueblo y playa!

Built originally as a Moorish settlement, Mojacar old town has a strong cultural identity and makes a great selfie-spot with traditional whitewashed buildings and a 6th-century church. Set on a hilltop with stunning 360° views across the sweeping Almerian plains and the rugged coastline of the Cabo de Gato and sandy beaches below.

Spanish street market

Spanish Street Market

Visit a street market abuzz with local people and fresh Spanish produce. Students are given a market mission by their monitores requiring them to use their Spanish language skills to interact with the friendly stall owners.

Cartagena boat trip

Boat trip exploring Costa Calida

All aboard for an informative and enjoyable boat tour of the Águilas bays! Students can learn about the geography and history of the area, while enjoying the cooling breeze and breath taking scenery along the Costa Calida. This is a beautiful coastline and there is no better way to explore it than by boat.

Murcia

Murcia is a sunny, slow-paced city home to baroque buildings, cathedrals and castles. We recommend soaking up the ambience of the city centre in Plaza de las Flores.

Cabo de Palos

Cabo de Palos

Visit Cape Palos, a small peninsula in Murcia. It is a traditional fishing village with a beautiful volcanic coastline.
