You’re having a splash!

Language immersion is a proven way to effectively learn a foreign language but it’s always reassuring to have this backed up by an expert. Rebecca Braun, a senior lecturer in German studies at Lancaster University is one of many teachers/ academics that agree with the method: “The books and verb charts may be the easiest way to ensure you expose yourself to the language at home [and school], but the people and the culture will far outclass them once you get to the country where your language is spoken.

Where adventure and language meet

Voyager has successfully taken the concept one step further or, in the case of the language immersion programmes we run at the Chateau Baudonnière in France and at the Arbolar Centre in Spain, one leap further! Both of these programmes allow students to learn language while they are engaged in some fantastic, fun and challenging activities. What better way of learning of language can there be if you are taking part in kayaking, cooking, creating a raft or climbing in the woods at the same time?

Location, location, learning!

Voyager’s Arbolar Centre is a fantastic location for an adventure-filled, educational school trip. Set next to the banks of  a beautiful lagoon called the Mar Menor (also known as the ‘world’s largest swimming pool’), this is an ideal place to relax and learn in equal measure.  The long sandy beaches are clean and unspoilt with beautiful views and plenty of space for running around and enjoying evening ents.  The waters are shallow and a safe place for sailing and kayaking. High salt and iodine content mean there are health benefits to be had from swimming in the calm, warm waters too.  The area is also known for its exquisite birdlife and you should be able to see flamingoes and herons on excursions to the bird sanctuary opposite our centre. Other highlights have to be a trip to the mud baths at Lo Pagan, the Roman Theatre at Cartagena and the waterpark at Murcia.

“Our group had a great time at Arbolar and it has set a benchmark for future trips in the school. The monitore was great and we cannot thank you enough."

The Arbolar formula

At our centre at Arbolar the formula is simple: we have a great location for outdoor adventures, we have an exciting programme of activities and we have recruited an exceptional team of instructors and teachers (monitores) who will deliver the week’s programme speaking only in Spanish.  Whether they are leaping into the warming waters of the Med, sampling tasty tapas,  getting involved in making a paella on the beach or having a laugh kayaking in the lagoon, your students will be learning Spanish. On this school trip, they will be laughing, splashing, learning and loving it all the way!
