The Downs School's German Trip to Hellenthal

The Downs School Berkshire published a fantastic report of their Voyager School Travel trip to Germany in October. Here are the highlights of their trip:

Mrs Bennet took forty Year 9 and 10 students on a memorable journey to our Hellenthal centre for five immersive days of German language and culture set in the Eifel National Park.

Students enjoyed language-rich activities with their German instructors, or Betreuers, who challenged them to learn key phrases, navigate a high ropes course, and even participate in games like German “Taboo” and “Charades” in the evenings. Their cultural exploration continued with a tour of Cochem castle, free time to practice their German in local shops and cafes, and a scenic cruise along the Moselle River.

The highlight for many was a visit to Phantasialand theme park, marking an adrenaline-filled close to the trip. Reflecting on the experience, teachers noted the students’ courage, teamwork, and independence, qualities they’ll carry forward from their unforgettable trip.
