Many thanks to St Olave's & St Saviour's Grammar School, Orpington, who shared photos of their trip to Paris organised by Voyager School Travel.

St Olave's have been using Voyager School Travel to organise their MFL trips to France, Spain and Germany for many years. Following the pandemic, this Paris trip was their first French excursion since October 2019.

Sixth Form Trip to Paris - Itinerary

Day 1
Morning Eurostar from London St Pancras arriving in Paris Gard du Nord late morning

Check into the MIJE youth hostel, situated in three beautifully renovated 17th century buildings in Paris' historic Marais district, just a 10-minute walk from Notre-Dame de Paris and Opéra Bastille.

Lunch and afternoon exploring the city on foot.

Evening meal at the accommodation.

Day 2
Morning spent exploring Montmartre & Sacré Cœur where many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí, Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.

Visit the famous artists’ square, Place du Tertre with today’s collection of painters and caricaturists, and of course don’t miss the beautiful white Sacré Cœur basilica.

Arc de Triomphe - the biggest arch in the world commemorating the successes of the Napoleonic War and the lives of those who died for its cause.

Stroll along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées certainly the most famous avenue in Paris, with its cinemas, cafés, luxury specialty shops and clipped horse-chestnut trees, it remains the most expensive strip of real estate in Europe.

Evening meal at Chez Hanna

Day 3

After breakfast, spend the morning at Château de Versailles - a chance to visit Louis XIV’s Chateau de Versailles created by the ‘Roi Soleil’ to reflect the splendour of France to the rest of the World.

Visit the Galerie des Glaces - which was a real first for its time – and the King and Queen’s apartments to see the extent of its luxury.

River Cruise - A cruise along the Seine to admire the main sights such as the Grand Palais, Invalides, Musée d’Orsay and Notre Dame Cathedral rising above the Ile de la Cité.

Evening meal at the accommodation.

Day 4
Visit Musée d'Orsay - The Musée d'Orsay is most famous for its late nineteenth and early twentieth century artworks, featuring pieces by Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh.

Two course lunch at Bouillon Chartier, Grands Boulevards, before boarding Eurostar for the return journey home.

Party leader feedback

The trip went extremely well and everything went smoothly - from the Musée d’Orsay, Bouillon Chartier to Chez Hanna. We really enjoyed the Seine cruise and saw the Eiffel Tower lit twice on the hour.

I would definitely ask again for the same youth hostel ( Mije Fourcy); they were extremely kind and arranged for a screen and projector (as well as a loud speaker!) for our use in their common room. It is ideally situated.

Thank you for your help and the smooth and very quick response regarding the reimbursement for our 2 Covid cases within 2 weeks of departure and the 3rd Sixth Former due to anxiety.  My school and I are very impressed by your services. Thank you to all: Pamela, Maria and Louise.

I would like to book again for next year and add an additional day to the trip.

Teacher top tip

Buy the “metro Naviguo” card - they cost 5 Euros and are valid for eight years and you top them up as you go. Make sure you bring the students' ID photos to do this.
