Overview

Our Moulin aux Draps school centre is set in a peaceful, rural location in Hauts-de-France near the town of Devres and the stunning Opal Coast. The Moulin is a 3 star hotel which we have converted for use by school groups and so is one of our most modern and comfortable centres.

The centre is contained within 22 acres of green fields, attractively set by a river and pond, giving students plenty of space to run around and let off steam. The grounds are within view of the main building which makes it easy to supervise your group and during term time the centre is exclusively for the use of school groups meaning there are few other distractions for students.

Accommodation and facilities

As a 3-star hotel, the Moulin has great facilities such as a traditional restaurant with log burner and views down to the 18th-century mill house, a large outdoor sun terrace, a separate breakfast room, teachers’ bar and lounge, and two dedicated games rooms for daytime activities and evening entertainment. Your students will love the site of the Moulin’s resident ducks coming to the courtyard for their breakfast every morning.

The centre has two rooms on the ground floor that are easily accessible for people with a wheelchair or anyone with a disability. Both rooms have plenty of floor space and large en-suite bathrooms with wheelchair accessible showers.

Centre staff

Our local French team has considerable experience looking after British school trips and there is always a member of staff on night duty, so schools have the benefit of 24-hour care and supervision. Le Moulin has its own dedicated French-native animateurs whose job is to guide your school group throughout the trip as well as providing a full evening programme to create an immersive French experience. Finally, our proud chef Eric is experienced in creating delicious French means which are guaranteed to satisfy British teachers and students alike.

Located less than an hour from Calais and within very easy reach of the stunning Opal Coastline, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Le Touquet, Arras and the WWI battlefields, our Moulin aux Draps centre is the perfect destination for schools looking for an affordable/short academic outing to France. With an abundance of historic towns, vast sandy beaches, local cultural and historic attractions nearby, the area has plenty to offer your school trip.

Activities and learning

Le Moulin is home to our Opal Coast French language immersion programme, Opal Parle, offering a mix of cultural visits in French and the opportunity to spend a morning or day at a local French school. The centre also offers a great base for history trips to the WW1 battlefields as well as cross-curricular trips around the Opal Coast. What makes Le Moulin so popular is the opportunity to pack a lot into a school trip without heading too far.
