China is the oldest country in the world spanning back some 5,000 years. The country is full of wonder from the awe inspiring landscapes which can be best described as an artist’s masterpiece, to the rich culture which is celebrated around the world. It clear as to why China is the power house of the world and now it’s time for you to discover what makes China wonderful!

Day 1 – UK - China

Depart the UK for your overnight flight to China.

Day 2 – Beijing – Dinner

Arrive in Beijing, meet your transfer and time depending, enjoy a city tour and visit The Summer Palace. Best known for its many lakes and tiny groves within the stunning gardens, it attracts tourists and locals alike. 

Day 3 – Beijing – Breakfast & Dinner

Breakfast, then meet your guide and today you will visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Tiananmen Square is a large city square in the centre of Beijing which when translated its name means “Gate of Heavenly Peace’’. This gate is also the entrance to the Forbidden City. The Square contains many monuments and historical places and is possibly the most famous square in the world!

Then onto the Forbidden City. This is an imperial Palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty (1420 – 1912). Located in central Beijing the palace is a complex 980 traditional Chinese buildings and covers 180 acres.

Day 4 – Beijing – overnight sleeper train to Xian – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Breakfast, then meet your guide and this morning you will go on to visit the Great Wall of China. The wall was constructed to protect the Chinese states from the attacks of the Mongolians. The wall covers 5,500 miles across the country and is a symbol of China which has helped to protect its people as well as claiming many lives that have helped to build this amazing structure that runs through the landscape.

After lunch you will then go onto the Temple of Heaven. First built in 1420 it is a masterpiece of the sacrificial buildings. Enjoy & explore the old philosophies and history of China. Dinner then board your train for your overnight travel to Xian on the sleeper train.

Day 5 – Xian – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Arrive in Xian and then transfer to the hotel to freshen up and enjoy breakfast. You will then go onto visit the Terracotta Warriors Museum.  The Army is made from Terracotta and is a collection of men, horses and chariots which were all individually made to protect the Emperor in his afterlife. 

This museum will leave you in awe as to how and why it was so important. Enjoy lunch and then visit Hau Qing Hot Springs in the afternoon. The springs where used by the impearl Emperors to bath and relax in its many pools. In the evening you will then go onto The Tang Dynasty Show. Dinner and overnight in Xian.

Day 6 – Xian – overnight sleeper train to Shanghai – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Breakfast, meet your guide and today you will explore Xian. The first stop will be The Wild Goose Pagoda, which is a Buddhist temple and is along the Silk Road. Enjoy a tour about the Pagoda and gardens before heading off to lunch and then enjoy a cycle tour on the city wall of Xian. Dinner then board the train for your overnight train to Shanghai.

Day 7 – Shanghai – Breakfast & Dinner

Arrive in Shanghai and then transfer to your hotel to freshen up and enjoy breakfast. You will then go onto visit the Shanghai Museum – which is located in central Shanghai and houses over 120,000 pieces from ancient Chinese art – clothing and much more!

After you will go onto the modern Shopping centre of Shanghai to grab lunch and enjoy some free time seeing modern China in all its glory at Nanjing Road – Happy shopping! Dinner and overnight Shanghai.

Day 8 – Shanghai – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Breakfast and then meet your guide and you will visit the famous oriental TV Tower which is a modern building shining over the landscape of Shanghai. Then onto Yu Garden and the Jade Buddha Temple.  Most of Shanghai is now a city of modern buildings, so this temple is a stark contrast from what you will now be used to seeing.

The spiritual home of Buddha, this temple will leave your senses infused from the many incense sticks filling the air with their sweet smell, and your eyes will be fixed on the opulent Buddha. You will then enjoy dinner and a Chinese Acrobatic Show.

Day 9 – Return back to the UK – Breakfast

Breakfast, then check out of your accommodation ready to depart back on your day flight to the UK. Arrive late afternoon in London.
