The most super-cool ski group accommodation we offer with its own mini piste
As well as Alpe d’Huez being well-known as one of France’s top ski resorts, the area is also famous as a gruelling hill climb in the Tour de France, consisting of 21 hairpin bends, ascending 1860m to the summit at an average gradient of 8.1%.
Instead of basing ourselves in the main resort, we recommend the super-stylish Moontain Hostel located in the traditional village of Oz en Oisans for our school groups. The hostel offers ski-in/ski-out accommodation which is fully linked to the whole ski area, provides greater value for money and avoids the long climb by coach (and those 21 switchbacks) to the main resort. Your school group is going to love the purpose-built hostel with its contemporary décor, funky art and well-designed rooms which make it feel more boutique than your traditional school group hostel.
The Alpe d’Huez ski area with over 250km of pistes is large and varied with great skiing for all levels in your group. With 41 green pistes and 34 blue, there’s plenty for beginners and intermediate skiers, while the very best skiers in your group can tackle the incredible Sarenne black run which is renowned as the Alps’ longest black run, coming it at a muscle-straining 18km. Finally, with a glacier providing all year round snow, Alpe d’Huez is a great option for school groups travelling early or late in the season.
