Argelès-sur-Mer Adventure school trip

Argelès-sur-Mer is not only a spectacular location in the South of France, on the border of Spain, but it is also home to our most adrenalin filled school watersports programme. White Water Rafting and Hydrospeeding in the French Pyrenees compliment Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayaking and Paddleboarding on the Med. And if that is not enough, Argelès also boasts the world's only man-made Canyoning park! Special Small Group Prices Available.

Argelès-sur-Mer, a spectacular location for exciting watersports & excursions

Nestled on the French side of the Pyrenees in the South of France, and sheltered by the Alberes Mountains, Argelès-sur-Mer is a stunning residential adventure trip destination for UK schools. Just a short journey over the border into Catalonia, you are also only a stone's throw from Barcelona, whilst being nestled among the French Mountains and Med.

The town itself ideally fits our specification of being large enough to keep your students entertained, but small enough for you to keep control. Free time attractions include markets, funfair, bustling shopping areas, and plenty of cafes.

At Argelès we offer a comprehensive school water sports programme in a safe environment, delivered by our team of fully qualified Voyager instructors. Like all our watersports centres, Argelès was selected because of the ability to deliver a full day of watersports activities. Our team also deliver a full programme of evening entertainments, keeping your students occupied from dawn to dusk.

Our school adventure watersports programme includes sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, raft-building, snorkelling, knee boarding, water skiing and wakeboarding - The adventure school trip of a lifetime awaits!

What really is the Voyager Difference?

Ross Allen, Party Leader at Aberdeen Grammar School explains why the school is back with our Adventure team in Argelès-sur-Mer for the 7th year in succession.

'Our yearly trip to Argelès with Voyager Adventure is by far the most popular school trip in school, with students and teachers alike.'

'The product gets better and better every year, the staff are excellent, everybody is safe and the students always have a great time.'

Thanks to its great location, Argelès also boasts a superb selection of local excursions, including the Dalí museum in Figueres and all the attractions of Barcelona, plus adrenalin led excursions such as the  man-made canyoning park and tree-tops activity park in Argelès itself, plus a number of local water parks.

Voyager offers a choice of accommodation in Argelès, to suit different budgets and requirements. We have two school villages in the Taxo Les Pins caravan park which has a variety of on-site facilities including swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, football pitches, restaurant and shop. We also offer accommodation in well appointed 2 star hotels and local aparthotels.

Finally, because of its excellent links to the continental motorway system, Calais is only 17 hours away and for those who prefer to fly, Argelès is particularly well served by low cost airlines flying into Gerona, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Montpellier and Barcelona.

Evening Entertainment & Activities

Evening Entertainment & Activities

Argeles adventure slacklining

We run a full programme of evening activities that we are very proud of.  Every year our evening ents programme evolves with fresh ideas from the team and the introduction of whatever new exciting activities we can find in the world of adventure.

One of the most recent additions to the evening programme has been slacklining. Our operations manager stumbled upon the sport of slacklining a year ago when visiting friends in the Ardèche and after a few goes he was hooked. As soon as he got back to the UK he found a supplier, did a risk assessment, and started writing the Ops procedure. Needless to say we now have slacklines in all our adventure centres and its going down a storm with all our groups.

Other activities include:

  • Awards Night and Video – During the week our team will make notes on those they’ve found to be the most helpful and willing. The best of the bunch will receive prizes and the whole group will get to see all of the action caught on film in our End of Week Video.
  • Catapult Warfare – This is a fantastic team game that requires a lot of cooperation to succeed. After learning some knots and lashing techniques, teams have to construct a catapult capable of accurately firing wet sponges and targets, other teams, and instructors!
  • Capture the Flag - Believe it or not, Capture the Flag originated on the battlefield of some of the most deadly wars in history. In fact, that was exactly how all the soldiers knew when a battle was over. This is a fantastic activity involves the whole group at the same time. Very loud!
  • Town Trip – Argeles has a great tourist/shopping area on the seafront with three parallel streets making it easy to navigate and very safe.
  • Egg Drop – This ‘quiz with a twist’ has been a staple of our ents programme since day one and gets better every year. Between every question round is an activity where one or two members of each team will have to come up on stage and perform various challenges. We wont give too much away but it gets messy!
  • Initiative Games – This is another great evening for pushing team work, leadership and problem solving. Small teams will have to navigate the Night Line, Spiders Web, Centipede Trail and Flood Gates.

We also have a host of Sports Tournaments and Pool Games, a long with a huge variety of entertainments provided by the French campsite team.
