The Azores Explored School Tour

A jewel in the middle of the Atlantic, the Azores are a lush and verdant archipelago of wonder and awe

This autonomous region of Portugal is remote yet remarkable

Seemingly alone in the middle of the ocean, this gaggle of small islands are relatively young, created by the collision of the European, American and African tectonic plates. As a result they are a natural wonder and a virtual garden of Eden for biologists. 3 of the islands are classified as 'biospheres' by UNESCO which gives you some idea as to their unspoilt beauty and unique ecosystem.

A school trip here could also focus on Geography and/or Geology, the rock formations and strata of these volcanic islands giving the student a huge variety of field study.
