French Alps Trips For Schools

An ideal cross-curricular landscape with adventure, geography and culture

Experience great adventure on a school tour to the French Alps

A school trip to the French Alps, with its outstanding natural beauty, exhilarating range of adventurous activities and superb choice of curriculum-led excursions, is always popular with pupils and teachers.

Our mountain adventure tour, based in the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps, is one of the most demanding and rewarding of all our adventure activity programmes. Our school trips are based in the pretty village of Megeve, easily accessible by autoroute from Calais. Enjoying dramatic scenery, this delightful mountain village has superb sports and leisure facilities.

High octane activities galore

It is completely up to you how adventurous you want to be and which activities you'd like to include on your school trip but there are so many activities to choose from, such as white water rafting, high ropes, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, mountain biking and guided mountain walking. For a small supplement we can include the thrill of exploring this alpine environment on a Via Ferrata (means 'iron road' in Italian and refers to the steel cable that is run through the mountains and is used by climbers to pass through the rocky terrain). All our activities are led by fully-qualified instructors so be assured this is a safe school trip.

The Haute Savoie region also offers a wonderful selection of curriculum-led excursions and is particularly suitable for geography, history and language students. Please see overleaf for more details about this exciting school trip.

White Water Rafting

Take a boat trip like no other through the Alpine countryside swishing on fast flowing rapids and round speedy corners. White water rafting is always a favourite among students and as we make your safety our number one priority, there's nothing left for you to do except enjoy the ride! Compulsory life jackets and safety briefing are just two of the ways in we ensure you're being taken care of, not to mention the highly qualified and experienced instructors who will be there to guide you at all times.

Via Ferrata

The mountains really are the perfect base for an adventure holiday, as this activity demonstrates. Scramble up craggy rocks, climb up ladders, balance along narrow bridges and pull yourself up fixed cables - this is mountain climbing with a difference! Using the most up-to-date safety equipment, including harnesses, via ferrata provides a new way of exploring mountainous terrain as well as experiencing fantastic views.

Watersports at Lake Annecy

The picturesque town of Annecy is home to one of France's most beautiful lakes. Its vast, still and clear waters provide the perfect environment for your students to try some of the most popular watersports including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking. Lake Annecy is known as 'Europe's cleanest lake' because of strict environmental regulations introduced in the 1960s and as such it is also the perfect place for swimming and other water sports. Skirting the perimeter of the lake is a beautiful cycle route for groups to enjoy if they wish to combine water sports with cycling.

Mountain biking

Mountain biking is one of the main reasons people travel to the Alps during the summer months. Keen mountain bikers drag their bikes onto some of Europe's steepest paths and enjoy an exhilarating rush down mountain paths, passing through forested countryside and open fields. For first timers, there are safe beginner routes, which you will be guided down by an expert whose main concern will be the safety of your group. It's an addictive sport, so we don't be surprised if you're coming back for more next year!

Guided mountain walk

Trek across the beautiful Alps with an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will point out local points of interest while providing you with a route that is as challenging or as easy as you like. Work up a good appetite and then enjoy a filling meal at one of the Alps' many famous and lovely restaurants, nestled into the mountain side. It's one of the best ways to appreciate the stunning scenery that stretches as far as Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
