A country of contrasts, from the spectacular Alps that dominate much of the country through to the deeply historic and cultural atmosphere of the capital Vienna, Austria delights at every turn.
The Sound of Music, the world's most popular musical film, is somewhat of a cliché in the context of modern Austria, but that's not to say that stunning alpine landscapes and beautiful music can no longer be found.
On the contrary, in terms of area, only one quarter of the country's land mass is considered 'low-lying'. If your considering a school tour to Austria there's a wealth of subjects that could form the tours focus, our music tour to Vienna and Saltzburg for example will immerse your students in the rich legacy of classical giants such as Mozart, Strauss and Haydn mellifluously blend with the contemporary sounds of 21st century Austrian music and culture.
Equally, Geography and Geology students will find a wealth of subject matter in the mountainous terrain. Our expert team would be delighted to discuss a bespoke tour with you in detail.

The Hapsburg (or Austro-Hungarian) Empire figures heavily in the history of not just Austria but greater Europe, (the dynasty occupied the throne of the Holy Roman Empire from 1438 to 1740), and this is reflected in much of the grandiose architecture found across the state and in particular in Vienna, the incredible Schönbrunn Palace for example has to be seen to be believed.
Further afield Graz, Linz and in particular Saltzburg and Innsbruck offer different flavours in terms of architecture, atmosphere and indeed cuisine.
Be sure to try Schnitzel, strudel and the huge variety of regional dishes that have been influenced by neighbouring French, Czech, Italian, Balkan and Jewish methods and ingredients.

“All our dreams begin in youth”

“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted”
“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.”
