Christmas Markets

12 Nov 2013, 11:30

Christmas is almost here, and many of our groups have been out to visit some of the various Christmas markets Europe has to offer. Countries such as Germany and Belgium are especially famous for their Christmas markets that offer not only traditional food and gifts, but also an experience of the culture and customs of the local people. They are also the perfect opportunity for students to practice their language skills! There are often carol singers, Christmas lights, and much more which creates the perfect atmosphere to get you truly excited for the festive season. Christmas markets are extremely good for finding the perfect gifts for others (aswell as yourself!).

Voyager School Travel offer a range of Christmas markets so our groups can have their perfect Christmassy experience. Here are our most popular:

Lille is the closest to the UK and is Europe's largest Christmas market. There are also lots of museums and tourist attractions nearby which makes this trip even more of a cultural experience.

The Arras Christmas market is increasingly popular with our groups. It has almost 90 exhibitors as well as an ice rink, carrousel, and various musical events.

Another increasingly popular market is the Amiens Christmas market, 'one of the best in Northern France'. Set ina beautiful valley, the market promises amazing produce along with an ice rink, carol singers and shows. It is also famous for Amiens macaroons, something that all visitors to the market should try themselves! The market also offers an awe-inspiring free light show, 'La Cathedrale en Couleurs', from the 1st December to the 1st January.
